Involvement of the expert in projects
1. Changes of functional structure in the postsocialist city. The postsocialist city is defined as a temporary phenomenon in the project context. It is the background for research of social and economic transformation processes taking part in the post-communist countries. Processes driven by the changes of outward economic and politic conditions combined with number of reparative transitive processes (e.g. deregulation, privatization) head towards building of new socio-economic spatial patterns, towards new distribution of real and symbolic values, productive and consumption functions within the city. 2. Support of polycentric regional development. Project is focused on critical analysis of polycentricity concept, analysis of polycentricity in Czech settlement and regional systems, proposal of policies to promote polycentricity on national and regional level with respect to integration to European structures.

Research activities are specialized on the problems of urban development (analysis of social and economic structures of urban space, analysis of functional relationships), analysis of regional economies and labor markets, geographical and sectoral analysis, tourism and regional development and spatial aspects of regional development.
