The 3rd issue of the newsletter and the new flyer is available

2012-01-17

We are very pleased to present the third issue of the ReNewTown project Newsletter. In this issue we present the ArtZONA initiative, one of four pilot actions realized within the ReNewTown project. The aim of the pilot action is to seek to find a model for development of cultural and social offer in districts with socialist burden. ReNewTwon is also a platform for discussion on urban regeneration problems beyond the project’s own case studies research. It focuses on the most interesting urban regeneration examples in countries involved in the work of ReNewTown (Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Germany). Therefore this issue also presents the 'garden of experience' project, the aim of which is regeneration of public park in a large housing estate in Cracow.

The third issue of the ReNewTown newsletter contains the following articles:

I. THE RENEWTOWN PARTNERSHIP MEETING IN VELENJE

The seminar was devoted to improvements in project implementation, presentation of good practices of revitalization and preservation of socialist architecture and public spaces. It also referred to problems related to urban regeneration in post-socialist cities and towns.

II. THE PILOT ACTION OF THE RENEWTOWN PROJECT

ArtZONA is an initiative of C.K. Norwid Culture Centre in Cracow and one of four pilot actions realized within the ReNewTown project. We seek to find a model for development of cultural and social offer in districts with socialist burden (Nowa Huta).

III. RENEWTOWN FOLLOWS OTHER INITIATIVES

We present selected revitalization projects implemented in Cracow (Poland) which change the typical public space into a 'garden of experience' – being an interactive, open-air seasonal exhibition.

IV. THE C. K. NORWID CULTURE CENTRE

We introduce the C. K. Norwid Culture Centre located in Nowa Huta district of Cracow. Its mission is to activate and educate local communities, thus preparing them to participate in culture and to create its value.

V. RENEWTOWN PROJECT IN BRIEF AND UPCOMING EVENTS

Time plan, partnership, budget, contact. Information on the upcoming conferences and seminars dealing with urban regeneration problems.

You are also invited to see our new ReNewTwon flyer which presents key facts about the project and its consortium and the ReNewTown good practice database - don't forget to try it out.
