    1. What forms of cooperation were used as new approaches in the field of rehabilitation and conversion of urban functional areas?
    2. Com-Com Zone Development Centre is a modern sports and educational institution situated in the XVIII District of Krakow – Nowa Huta, in the vicinity of sports objects belonging to the Hutnik Kraków Sports Club. It was established on the initiative of the professor Jacek Majchrowski – the President of the City of Krakow. The City of Krakow is the owner of the object. The object is managed by SIEMACHA Association. The role of local business is to support financially the activities of the centre within the framework of the mission and social responsibility. The method which has already proved practical, namely the method of a triple-sector partnership was used – a public institution – a third sector – business.

    4. The space, where Com Com Zone was located is in Nowa Huta, the part of Kraków, the building of which started in the 50s of the twentieth century. Nowa Huta came into being as an exemplary socialist town. Its town-planning layout was entered into the register of monuments. ComCom Zone Centre is situated in the vicinity of the object Hutnik Kraków Sports Club which in the period of socialism had great significance for development and social life of the District.

    6. Nowa Huta (5 Kraków districts) takes up the area of 110,7 km², and its population reaches 220 thousand of residents. The social structure of Nowa Huta district is quite varied – it involves both its first residents – Nowa Huta builders and their families as well as new residents altering its character and social structure with more young people performing freelance occupations. Com Com Zone was established in the district of high historical and cultural prestige (representative example of socialist realist town-planning in Poland). In the vicinity of the district centre of above-local significance. Nowa Huta has got a great potential in terms of development of services, tourism and culture. There are located here dynamically operating institutions of culture of the above-local range. Active associations conducting activities for the benefit of the district development work here. Residents display willingness to participate in the process of revitalization.

    8. The space where Com Com Zone is situated is a quite significant and important area in the district particularly because of the neighbourhood of sports objects of the Hutnik Kraków Sports Club. Even at the stage of the construction Krakow City was looking for the administrator of the Centre. Association “U Siemachy” with its leader priest Augustyński, the co-oridinator of the City Programme of Juvenile Crime Prevention in Kraków was selected to be the Administrator of the Centre.

    9. Were attempts made to improve territorial cohesion within the city/town/district? And, if so, how was success on this front gauged?
    10. ‘Com’ as the community, comfort, competence, company, communication, competition, commerce. Com-Com Zone Development Centre in Nowa Huta is an object that the main goal is not only creating the conditions for a sports competition, but also building community, creating common ground among the benefiting young people and offer them support. It is to help fostering a sense of identity of Nowa Huta, which for many years was regarded as second-class district. Com Com Zone consists of a swimming pool, sports hall, three training halls, well equipped gym, recreation area and space for care and educational activities run by Youth Centre for Social Development, a specialized daily support for children and adolescents institution, and therapeutic Centre led by Kraków Institute of Psychotherapy.

    12. Implementation of this project was very important because of the big disproportions in accessibility to free time offer especially connected with sports and recreation between Nowa Huta and other parts of Kraków. Com Com Zone creation revived this sector and significantly affected the attractiveness of the area.
