    II. TYPOLOGY
    1. Improved provision of local cultural and social events.

      The complex reconstruction of Dědina block of flats involved among other things also renovation of parterre and green areas. The process of regeneration began in 2004 when first discussions among residents, developers and city hall over the project started. Children´s playgrounds were supplemented with modern fountain, new centre situated near the community centre Delta was built up. This centre is adorned with square with fountains, festive lighting and clock tower. A new grass field had replaced an unused volleyball ground. Newly sawn lawns are equipped with self - irrigation system.

    2. Improved condition & quality of the public space between the blocks of flats.

      Within the project implementation the road network was repaired including staircases and supporting walls of the residential buildings. Public paths are provided with interlocking pavers. In connection with road network, the street lightning was repaired and the spaces between block of flats are connected by barrier free path. After the implementation of the project the technical infrastructure was increased. The public space now serves as a meeting place for local inhabitants across all generation, it is also a suitable place for sports and social learning.

    3. Improved involvement of the local community in events organized in its quarter.

    4. Identified new functions for structures from the era of socialism in 1945 - 1989).

      Rehabilitation of the Dědina block of flats has fully accepted the settlement demands on current trends and housing requirements. The settlement was uniformly designed and built in the late seventies without the unifying concept designed for quiet traffic, with lack of commercial facilities and large military area and storage space. During the first phase of regeneration the facades of the block of flats were insulated. This thermo insulation help the buildings to obtain better technical quality.

    III. SUPPLEMENT

    There are more than 6 000 people living in Dědina block of flats. The whole revitalization 3 -phases -process took 4 years and the total cost of the project was 11 200 000 EUR. It is one of the first completely reconstructed block of flats as far as the public spaces in Prague are concerned.
